The comment period for TriMet’s Fiscal Year (FY) 2018 annual bus service proposal is now open, allowing riders the chance to weigh in on changes to eight bus lines and the addition of one new route. These changes aim to better match rider demand, connect more people with jobs and schools, streamline service and ease crowding.

The proposal includes more service in Beaverton, Gresham, Portland and Clackamas County; better connections to jobs, schools or MAX service in Portland, Gresham and Troutdale; and new service from Beaverton Transit Center to Washington Square and Tigard Transit Center. Some of these service enhancements include a proposed route change that may affect some riders, so feedback is crucial.

Proposed FY2018 bus service improvements include:

  • 6-Martin Luther King Jr Blvd: Change route to serve retail center on N. Hayden Meadows Dr. and improve connections to MAX Yellow Line and C-Tran at Delta Park/Vanport MAX Station.
    • Includes a route change that may affect some riders.
  • 20-Burnside/Stark: Weekday frequency will be increased to every 15 minutes from the beginning of morning rush hour to the end of evening rush hour between Downtown Portland and Gresham Central Transit Center to better match ridership demand. Frequency on the Westside will also be increased.
  • 33-McLoughlin/King Rd: Increase frequency on SE King Rd. to better match service on SE McLoughlin.
  • 44-Capitol Hwy/Mocks Crest: Add weekday trips during the midday between Downtown Portland and St. Johns to better serve growth in North Portland.
  • 52-Farmington/185th: Add weekday trips midday to better serve downtown Beaverton, Aloha, Willow Creek Transit Center, Tanasbourne, and PCC Rock Creek.
  • 81-Kane/257th: Change route to SE Division in Gresham for more direct service to Mount Hood Community College and in Troutdale for new service to Troutdale Reynolds Industrial Park.
    • Includes a route change that may affect some riders.
  • 87-Airport Way/181st
    • Add weekend service between Gateway Transit Center, Airport Way and 181st/182nd to SE Powell Blvd. to improve access to jobs in the Columbia Corridor. All trips between Gateway Transit Center and SE 185th Ave./Rockwood will be extended to SE 182nd Ave. & Powell Blvd.
    • Route will split into two bus lines at SE 182nd Ave. & SE Powell Blvd. to increase service on 182nd and better match ridership demand with bus service levels. Bus service between Gresham Transit Center and SE 182nd Ave. & Powell Blvd. will continue to run on its current route, days and frequency.
    • Includes a route change that may affect some riders.
  • 152-Milwaukie: Increase frequency, add new service on SE Harmony Rd., and remove service along Kellogg Creek Dr. and Milwaukie Marketplace for faster, more efficient service to International Way and Clackamas Community College Harmony Campus.
    • Includes a route change that may affect some riders.
  • New route: Extend service from Beaverton Transit Center to Washington Square and Tigard Transit Center via SW Lombard Ave., SW Denney Rd., SW Scholls Ferry Rd., and SW Hall Blvd. to serve the Vose, Denney-Whitford, and Metzer areas.
