Gothenburg: New Low-Floor Tramcars with Vossloh Kiepe Technology

Göteborgs Spårvägar AB has awarded the contract for 40 low-floor tramcars of the type M33 to a consortium consisting of Bombardier and Vossloh Kiepe. Vossloh Kiepe’s share of the order has a value of about 43 million euros.

Göteborgs Spårvägar AB has awarded the contract for 40 low-floor tramcars of the type M33 to a consortium consisting of Bombardier and Vossloh Kiepe. Vossloh Kiepe’s share of the order has a value of about 43 million euros. Moreover, the order includes an option for another 60 vehicles.

The three-part vehicles, which are about 33 metres long and 2.65 metres broad, are delivered both as unidirectional and as bidirectional vehicles (30 vehicles are unidirectional and 10 bidirectional).

Each tramcar is equipped with three motor bogies, CCTV, air conditioning in the driver’s cab and in the passenger compartment as well as a state-of-the-art passenger information system.

As a system supplier of electrical equipment Vossloh Kiepe is responsible for the engineering, the assembly of the electrical parts as well as for the supply and commissioning of the complete vehicle control system, the traction equipment, the on-board power supply system, the air conditioning for the passenger compartment and the driver’s cab, the passenger information system and the CCTV.

The first vehicles are to be delivered and put into passenger service in 2019.
