Tindale Oliver has announced that Randall Farwell has joined the firm as a senior associate focusing on transportation and transit solutions. He brings a national transit perspective and will support Tindale Oliver and its clients in Orlando and Jacksonville.

Farwell has more than 29 years of hands-on experience in transportation and transit planning, operations, and management and has planned and deployed mobility services including fixed-route bus, bus rapid transit (BRT), commuter rail, light rail, paratransit, and flexroutes. His work involves service planning, system design, multimodal corridor studies, project development, and the application of technology to transit in support of mobility on-demand services and regional mobility management services.

Prior to joining Tindale Oliver, he served as director of planning and development at the Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority (LYNX) and planning manager at the Potomac & Rappahannock Transportation Commission, helped launch the Virginia Railway Express commuter rail in 1992, and developed the OmniLink flexroute, the first ITS-enhanced flexroute, in 1994.

Farwell has pioneered applications of automation and technology to advance transit scheduling, planning, and service delivery, including FlexBus, an Uber-like, shared-ride, dynamically-routed, mobility-on-demand service deployed as NeighborLink in Central Florida (2016); the Santa Clara County (CA) Flex service (2016); and the Community Shuttle in North Florida (2008). He has completed nearly a dozen multimodal transportation and transit corridor projects, including advancing projects through the Federal Transit Administration process. The Community Transportation Association of America named him one of 15 “Innovators of 2015” for his work in developing and deploying innovative service delivery strategies to enhance mobility in suburban and lower-density markets.
