On October 15, Valley Metro and the city of Mesa will host a community fall festival to mark the start of construction on the Gilbert Road light rail extension. The community is invited to join Mesa Mayor John Giles and councilmembers for the celebration, which includes an official kick-off of the project, as well as free, family-friendly activities, local food and musical entertainment.
The 1.9-mile extension on Main Street stretches from Mesa Drive to Gilbert Road and will initiate construction the week of October 17. It is slated to open in late 2018/early 2019.
Safety is a top priority for Valley Metro. Remember to stay alert and follow the posted traffic signals and signs during construction.
