Lytx DriveCam Program Adds New Client-Centric Enhancements

Oct. 4, 2016
Lytx recently unveiled new enhancements to its industry-leading DriveCam video telematics safety program that will streamline workflow, capture even more unsafe driving behaviors, and make fleet tracking easier for fleet managers on the go.

Lytx recently unveiled new enhancements to its industry-leading DriveCam video telematics safety program that will streamline workflow, capture even more unsafe driving behaviors, and make fleet tracking easier for fleet managers on the go. These developments are in addition to the new video-without-limits Unisyn platform and ActiveVision service updates, announced recently.

Lytx DriveCam announced two new triggers to identify even more unsafe driving behavior. The Rolling Stop trigger detects when a driver fails to come to a complete stop at a stop sign, and the Roll Stability trigger works with a third-party roll stability system to detect when there's a rollover risk.

"We have deep partnerships with our clients, and they're our best collaborators in the DriveCam program's evolution," said Lytx Chairman and CEO Brandon Nixon. "We are constantly looking for new ways to make their tough jobs easier, and to make the time they have with their drivers more effective."

The DriveCam exception-based video safety program combines video capture of road incidents such as hard braking or sudden swerving, data analysis of those incidents, and personalized coaching insights to improve driving behavior. Today, Lytx helps protect more than 600,000 commercial and government fleet drivers under its DriveCam program.

DriveCam video is captured by an event recorder mounted on the windscreen of the vehicle. In addition to video camera lenses, the event recorder is packed with sensors that can detect more than 70 driving behaviors, from rapid acceleration to excessive speed. Lytx is also adding valuable new video capture triggers to identify and help extract even more risk from commercial and government fleets.

Two New Video Capture Triggers: Rolling Stops and Roll Stability

Rolling stops are common among urban drivers, especially those in a hurry to get to their next service call or delivery, or to complete their route. Rolling stops are also dangerous and illegal, and unfortunately, they're associated with thousands of injury and fatality collisions each year. Lytx has developed and patented new way for fleets to identify when their drivers go through a posted stop sign without coming to a complete stop. This Rolling Stop trigger will initiate video capture for use by fleets in coaching the driver to help eliminate the behavior.

Lytx has also developed a new Roll Stability triggeran innovative way for fleets to identify when their drivers are triggering their third-party roll-stability system, indicating that driving behavior, such as speed, and/or road conditions are inconsistent with the load the driver is hauling. The triggered and captured video can be used by fleets in coaching drivers to help decrease the likelihood of rollover events.

Now Track Fleets from Any Mobile Device

Lytx also announced its new Mobile Fleet Tracking solution, allowing fleet managers and business owners to track and manage their vehicle from any mobile device. Designed with an intuitive map interface, Lytx Mobile Fleet Tracking enables:

  • Live fleet maps across phones, tablets and desktops, to understand at a glance and on the go, where each vehicle is
  • Vehicle search and list management, to manage fleets in real time
  • GeoFence administration, to track and manage fleet vehicle routes
  • Vehicle history, to understand where the vehicle has been, and when

Data from the service is integrated with DriveCam data to give fleet managers and business owners a more complete picture of driving behavior.

New Streamlined DriveCam Enterprise Workspace:

To improve workflow efficiency, Lytx also revealed a completely redesigned cloud-based workspace for users of the DriveCam Enterprise program. The web-based workspace employs state-of-the-art data visualization design principles, serving up information that is most relevant to that particular user, whether a coach, a safety manager or a business owner.

"Our objective for the new DriveCam Enterprise workspace is to improve efficiency for anyone who relies on DriveCam data to do their job," said Nixon. "We're using the power of our analytics engine to prioritize tasks, generate new visual representations of driver safety performance scores to facilitate better coaching discussions, and help coaches more easily identify drivers who've earned positive recognition."

The new DriveCam Enterprise workspace is customized to the user's role. It knows the user's service configuration and delivers only the relevant data to make decision making and coaching easier. The user is never more than four clicks away from 100 percent of the information they need to coach a driver, from selecting the driver for coaching to task completion.

And because so much driver coaching is done outside of the office, the new workspace is optimized for every screen, from desktop to mobile, regardless of operating system.

All of these DriveCam enhancements – the new triggers, Mobile Fleet Tracking, and the redesigned DriveCam Enterprise workspace – are expected to roll out throughout 2017.
