The Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Police Department has announced that it is hosting its sixth National Night Out against crime Tuesday, Oct. 4, from 6-8 p.m.

Meet police, fare enforcement officers, staff and neighbors in the parking lot of police headquarters, 2111 South Corinth Street Road, Dallas, located at Illinois Station on DART's Blue Line.

DART's event is family-oriented with free document shredding, health and wellness literature, crime prevention information, safety brochures, food, beverages and music. Free face painting and haircuts will be provided to kids, and special prizes will be available to everyone.

The evening presents a unique crime and drug prevention event that is free to the public and designed to help build strong relationships between children, families and the police; generate support and participation in anti-crime programs; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
