More than 50,000 Passenger Trips Taken During Cincinnati Bell Connector's Opening Weekend

The Cincinnati Bell Connector’s grand opening weekend was a major success with 50,646 passenger trips taken on the new streetcars as they traveled throughout The Banks, Downtown and Over-the-Rhine.

The Cincinnati Bell Connector’s grand opening weekend was a major success with 50,646 passenger trips taken on the new streetcars as they traveled throughout The Banks, Downtown and Over-the-Rhine.

Cincinnati Bell Connector Ridership by day:

  • Friday, Sept. 9:             18,141 passenger trips
  • Saturday, Sept. 10:       17,160 passenger trips
  • Sunday, Sept. 11:         15,345 passenger trips

Various festivities and events were planned along the route throughout the weekend in celebration of the streetcar’s opening, including free carousel rides, discounts and specials at local restaurants and businesses, and musical entertainment and pop-up performances at stops.

“The Cincinnati Bell Connector grand opening weekend was a tremendous success,” said Cincinnati Metro CEO & General Manager Dwight A. Ferrell. “The new streetcar service has made Cincinnati a true multi-modal city and is living up to its promise of connecting people and places, improving quality of life and spurring economic development. The Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority is proud to operate this system in partnership with the City of Cincinnati and Transdev and are committed to excellence, efficiency and safety.”

Fare revenue service began on Monday and passes are $1 for 2 hours or $2 for an all-day pass to ride along the 3.6 mile loop. Passes may be purchased at any of the ticket vending machines located on the streetcar platforms, as well as on the free Cincy EZRide mobile ticketing App, recently launched by the Cincinnati Metro bus system.
