Nomad Digital has announced it will be joined by Metro Trains Melbourne at InnoTrans to showcase the operator’s remote condition monitoring (RCM) solution, which Nomad designed.

Metro Trains Melbourne’s Dan Ward (software systems engineer, Rolling Stock) will join Nomad for daily demonstrations of the benefits of the predictive maintenance tools it is trialing to gain further insight into valuable data and analysis to improve the management, availability and reliability of the operator’s fleet.

The system is currently being utilized on four of Metro Trains Melbourne’s Alstom X’Trapolis train units, with Nomad Tech - Nomad’s joint venture with EMEF.

The RCM solution, sits on Nomad’s networked platform, which means applications such as live CCTV - which is currently being developed - and passenger information, or passenger entertainment such as WiFi or advertising, could be integrated in the future, subject to the operator’s requirements.

Dan Ward said “I’m delighted to join Nomad at such a major rail event to showcase this innovative solution to customers and contacts. We have some great results from our initial trials and its success underlines the strength of collaboration with a supplier which has the rail expertise, combined with on-the-ground support and implementation from the Nomad Digital team in Australia.”
