Nomad Digital and ICT solutions to the rail industry, has successfully partnered the international train builder Stadler, based in Switzerland, for supply of a passenger WiFi and infotainment solution for the new EC250 ‘Giruno’ high-speed trains being built for the Swiss state rail operator SBB.

Nomad’s WiFi and infotainment solution is being installed on the new Stadler-built EC250 'Giruno' trains which will travel across Switzerland, Italy, Germany and Austria. It further builds on the company’s growing influence across the DACH region, following the recent partnership with Austrian state operator ÖBB on the successful deployment of WiFi, infotainment and Live TV.

A key benefit for the passenger is a seamless WiFi experience delivered by Nomad’s cross-border technology promoting uninterrupted connectivity on international trains between different countries. Passengers who have become resigned to dropped mobile phone calls while crossing national borders by car or train, will be able to depend on seamless WiFi connectivity on SBB’s ‘Giruno’ trains.

These state-of-the-art new networked trains have been built by Stadler with Nomad’s open connectivity infrastructure embedded. Nomad’s R3500 CCU provides a secure, robust technology platform which enables the quick integration of additional operational applications, providing a scalable, future-proofed solution to the customer. As the customer’s and their passengers’ demands increase, Nomad has the ability to leverage the flexibility of its innovative networked platform to offer new market-leading connectivity solutions.

In addition, Nomad’s connectivity platform supports an integrated passenger portal, which delivers a full passenger information system and infotainment platform, offering fully synchronised and integrated real-time journey and service information.

Andrew Taylor, Nomad Digital CEO, said "This is an exciting partnership with Stadler and SBB that further extends our influence in a region of growing significance. The partnership has been a good example of Nomad’s long-term collaboration with Stadler which extends to other projects in Norway, the Netherlands and Sweden. This strategic partnership delivers a service that offers passengers an unparalleled connectivity and infotainment experience throughout their entire journey irrespective of Swiss, German and Italian borders."
