In May this year Vossloh Kiepe GmbH was awarded a contract for service packages within the scope of the refurbishment and reconstruction of metro vehicles of the type DT3 by FWM Fahrzeugwerke Miraustrasse GmbH. It is the objective of the “material improvement of the DT3” project to refurbish the reliable vehicles, which have been operated in Hamburg since 1971, so that they can remain in operation for some years. The vehicles are to be refurbished between June 2016 and November 2017.
As a subcontractor Vossloh Kiepe performs the work together with the main contractor, FWM Fahrzeugwerke Miraustrasse in Hennigsdorf. Vossloh Kiepe is responsible for the following service packages: development of a new switchgroup control unit, integration of a new on-board converter and overhaul of the power/brake master controller.
The vehicles are modernized in one overall measure. Particular attention is paid to the inspection according to the BOStrab requirements, the modernization of the passenger compartment, the correction of corrosion defects on the outside of the vehicles and the overhaul of various electronic components.
