Solar energy deployment has increased at a record pace in the United States since 2008, growing an average 40% per year, and placing the country amongst the top producers of solar power in the world. Countless PV projects are quickly being completed in the country’s south western region. BYD Company Ltd. has recently announced the imminent completion of four major solar plant projects using its cutting-edge PV modules in three of the six American states with the best solar potential, totaling 202MW of solar energy production.

The bulk of BYD’s announced solar power production – a total 109MW – is going to California, with a 25MW plant and the biggest of the four, an 84MW plant using over 270,000 modules covering an area of 490 acres, and capacity to meet the demands of 13,776 of the state’s households. The other projects are a 65MW plant in Utah, and a 28MW plant in Arizona. With such massive megawatt scale in major projects, BYD becomes a force to be reckoned with and celebrates the maturity, acceptance and success of its “first green dream” – that of supplying PV products in large-scale – in the Americas.

After several American states rushed to introduce clean energy incentives, the development of BYD Solar in the United States market has been fast: in a mere seven-year time frame, a formerly unknown foreign company has managed to grow into a leader in today's proliferating projects. Additionally to California, Utah and Arizona, the company’s PV footprint also extends into North Carolina and Tennessee. But BYD’s footprint in the Americas is not limited to the U.S.A., the company has completed a total of 40MW in Uruguay, Honduras, and Chile.

BYD is a pioneer in the renewable energy industry, for it is the only company that provides a comprehensive solution in solar power production: with its "Fully Sustainable Power Solutions”, the company not only provides the PV modules, but also integrates them with energy storage solutions, solving the problem of instability and voltage fluctuations, in a proposition that has achieved broad commercial success. BYD is bringing its “Fully Sustainable Power Solutions” to this year’s Intersolar Trade Show, taking place in Munich, Germany, from June 22 to 24.
