David A. Farley, a vice president of Transit & Rail Systems and the Southern California Transit Manager, was named a senior associate of Gannett Fleming. Based in the Los Angeles, CA, office, he promotes business development and performs project execution for Gannett Fleming Transit & Rail Systems (GFT&RS) in Southern California. Farley also supports transit and rail initiatives within the west region.

With 35 years of engineering and leadership experience, Farley works to establish the firm as a leader in the transit and rail systems market and develop the local office. His duties include providing client marketing, market strategy, development, and coordination services with the Transit Group and the west region; developing strategic teaming partners; performing employee recruiting and development tasks; and overseeing and executing projects.

As a construction manager, Farley has led high-profile projects like the Caltrain Rail Corridor Electrification Program Management Services in Menlo Park, California. He was responsible for the oversight of the electrification design-build contractors’ installation work for the project that powers the existing 52-mile rail corridor from San Francisco to San Jose.

“Not only does David possess tremendous technical depth based on years of experience with complex transit systems, but he is a highly effective communicator, making him a great leader for major transit projects,” said Bryan Mulqueen, PE, a senior vice president and director of Transit & Rail.

An active participant in engineering professional societies, Farley is a member of the Construction Management Association of America and the American Public Transportation Association. He also sits on the Electrification Committee of the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association and the Traction Power Substations Committee of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
