Freeze the Keys on New Year’s Eve

Dec. 16, 2015

Coors Light is teaming up with Valley Metro to bring Coors Light Free Rides back to the Phoenix community on New Year’s Eve. In partnership with Crescent Crown Distributing, Coors Light will provide Free Rides on all Valley Metro bus and light rail routes Thursday, December 31, beginning at 7 p.m. through the end of regular service.

“We hope consumers will choose to refresh responsibly this New Year’s Eve and let Coors Light and Valley Metro be their designated driver,” said Gene Giron, Responsibility Initiatives Manager for MillerCoors. “By working together with Valley Metro and Crescent Crown Distributing, we’re helping keep local roadways safe while raising awareness that drunk driving is completely preventable.”

Since 2013, Coors Light has provided nearly 60,000 people in the metro Phoenix community with safe alternative transportation on New Year’s Eve. The program has gained the full support of state and local law enforcement, including the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety. Since its inception in 1987, the Free Rides program has provided more than 5 million people nationwide with a safe ride home and is an important part of MillerCoors overall commitment to helping prevent drunk driving.

“The holiday season is about spending time with family and friends, and we hope people enjoy their celebrations responsibly and safely,” said Alberto Gutier, Director for the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety. “By bringing Coors Light Free Rides back to Phoenix on New Year’s Eve, Coors Light and Valley Metro are helping take countless cars off the road and keeping our community safe.”

“I’m so glad that again residents and visitors alike can ride the bus and light rail for free this New Year’s Eve,” said Tempe Mayor and Valley Metro Rail Vice Chair Mark Mitchell. “We want those in our community to be able to travel safely on New Year’s Eve to festivities including the Block Party on Mill Avenue. We’re grateful to Coors Light Free Rides® for offering this opportunity to take free transit on one of our busiest nights of the year.”

“We’re proud to partner with Coors Light and Valley Metro to bring this great service back to our community,” said Bubba Moffett, president at Crescent Crown Distributing. “We hope people will make a plan to enjoy the holiday responsibly.”
