Take MARTA this Holiday Season

Nov. 25, 2015

As the holiday season approaches, MARTA is ready to get you to your destinations conveniently and affordably — whether you plan on shopping or enjoying the many holiday-themed attractions across the metro area.

To help kick off Turkey Day, MARTA rail service will begin at 5 a.m. to accommodate the Atlanta Track Club’s Half-Marathon and 5K races. Participants should ride to the Georgia State or Five Points station, both of which are only a short walk to the starting line at Turner Field. Spectators can also get to a number of locations along the course by taking MARTA. There will be no bus shuttle service for race participants.

Thanksgiving Day through Nov. 29, MARTA will operate on a modified bus and rail schedule.

Due to the large crowds that are expected during the holiday, customers are advised to purchase a round-trip fare at the beginning of their trip to avoid long lines on the return. Runners may purchase a round-trip Breeze pass for only $2.50 each way plus a $1 charge for a permanent Breeze card, using cash or credit/debit cards. Remember, one Breeze card per person, and customers must tap to enter and exit stations.

Parking for less than 24 hours is free at all of MARTA’s daily parking facilities. Customers parking in the decks at Lindbergh Center Station must park in MARTA-designated areas and validate their parking ticket at machines inside the station in order to receive free daily parking. MARTA has some designated lots at the Brookhaven, College Park, Lenox and Kensington stations that charge a fee.
