Sound Transit Set More Ridership Records

Aug. 28, 2015

Sound Transit passengers set another ridership record during the second quarter of 2015, with 8.8 million boardings for the quarter -- the busiest second quarter in the agency’s history. Average weekday boardings on Sound Transit buses and trains hit 118,000 for the quarter, a 6 percent jump over 2014.

“Once again, Sound Transit’s strong ridership growth shows no slowdown in the demand for more transit throughout our region,” said Sound Transit Chair and King County Executive Dow Constantine.

The second quarter ridership estimates were presented to the Sound Transit Board in today’s meeting. Sounder ridership continued its impressive growth with average weekday boardings up 12 percent to the same period last year.
