CityLynx Gold Line Ridership 67% Above Projection

Aug. 26, 2015

Data for July 14-31 for the CityLynx Gold Line shows average weekday ridership 67 percent above the original projection, at 1,507 passenger trips.  Saturdays averaged slightly higher. The initial projection for average daily ridership was estimated at 900 passenger trips per month.  Though the numbers are only for a partial month, early reviews of August ridership indicate similar average weekday ridership levels.

“Exceeding initial ridership projections demonstrates the public’s continued embracement of rail transit and their support for more transportation choices,” said John Muth, CATS interim CEO.  “Charlotte is a vibrant, growing city.  Investment in public transportation choices continues to generate benefits for the community and improve the quality of life of Charlotteans.”

Citizens can use the CityLynx Gold Line to connect to jobs, recreation, healthcare, and other modes of transportation including CATS buses and the Lynx Blue Line.
