DCTA Announces Service Changes Effective Aug. 24

Aug. 4, 2015

The Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) will implement service changes on Aug. 24. Every day, activities occur within the Denton County community that affects the DCTA’s transit system. DCTA actively responds by making changes to its bus and commuter rail system in January and August.

DCTA’s bi-annual schedule change helps improve service by maximizing the efficiency of existing resources, reducing duplication of service, and making better connections with bus, commuter rail, regional, and specialty services.

Final schedules are available to view online. A new Go Guide with effective schedules will be available at all DCTA facilities on Aug. 24.

Below are the key DCTA service changes:

Connect Bus

  • The routing on Hickory St., between Bell and Industrial, has shifted north to Oak and/or McKinney St. This will affect Denton Connect Routes 6, 7, 8, and 9.
  • The Lewisville Connect Route 23 8:40 a.m. northbound trip at Old Town Station will be delayed from 9:03 a.m.to 9:05 a.m. This will allow those departing from the 9:05 a.m. southbound train to transfer to Route 23.
  • The Lewisville Connect Route 21 4:05 p.m. southbound trip will now leave Walmart Main Street at 4:02 p.m. (three minutes earlier) so passengers using this trip can transfer to the 4:38 p.m. southbound train at Hebron Station.

Campus Shuttles

  • North Central Texas College (NCTC) Shuttle – The last southbound and northbound trips, to and from the Highland Village/Lewisville Lake Station, will depart the campus 26 minutes later than originally scheduled to better match class schedules.
  • The University of North Texas (UNT) Shuttle changes include:
  1. Routes that served Highland Avenue, prior to the Highland Avenue street closure, will now resume their pre-construction routing.
  2. Campus Cruiser will no longer provide service to Discovery Park.
  3. Discovery Park will extend operating hours until 10:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and will also provide Saturday service.
  4. Centre Place East will arrive and depart every 15 minutes during operating hours.
  5. Centre Place West will arrive and depart every nine minutes in the morning and arrive and depart every 27 minutes in the afternoons and evenings.

If passengers have questions regarding the August service changes, they are encouraged to contact DCTA Customer Service or utilize the agency’s GORequest free mobile application available on iPhone, Android and online to submit feedback about DCTA services.
