June 12, 2015

The Spanish city of Sant Cugat, in the region of Barcelona, has begun leasing of a BYD 12m ebus for a two-year trial period. It's is the third city in Spain to try BYD’s electric bus technology, which has been evaluated in more than 47 European cities and more than 156 cities worldwide.

Moventis, part of the Moventia group that operates more than 800 conventional buses, is going to operate the ebus in the city of Sant Cugat. Both Moventis and the city council of Sant Cugat are convinced that pure electric, zero-emission city transport is the way forward and have been impressed by the technology offered by BYD. On June 10 at the UITP (International Public Transport Union) Congress in Milan, Italy, Josep M. Marti, CEO of Moventis, witnessed by Pere Aguilar from Sant Cugat City Council, signed a lease for the bus at the BYD stand.

Speaking at the ceremony, Isbrand Ho, managing director of BYD Europe said, “We are delighted, following other operations in Spain, to enter into this long-term agreement. We know our technology offering is highly
competitive and are confident it will set a new benchmark for zero-emission transportation in Spain."

In a joint statement the Town Hall of Sant Cugat del Valles and Moventis said, “As organizations committed to sustainable development we are delighted to begin this trial of a zero-emissions bus manufactured to the most
advanced technology by BYD. We are confident of a successful experience."
