STM Announces the Acquisition of Minibuses for Paratransit

The Montreal Transit Corp. (STM) announced that the executive committee of the city of Montreal has approved this morning the R-153 debt settlement worth $ 13,365,906, including costs financial, for the acquisition of 76 minibuses for paratransit for the period 2016 - 2019. This debt settlement must subsequently obtain the approval of the Montreal Agglomeration Council and the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and the Land Occupancy.

Chairman of the Board of Directors Philippe Schnobb, recalled that "borrowing bylaw will acquire new minibus that will be needed over the coming years both to better meet the needs of the transport customer adapted, which is growing, as well as to maintain and renew the current fleet of vehicles. " 

"The mobility of people is one of the priorities of our transportation plan and is also part of our policy of universal accessibility. The acquisition of new vehicles adapted will better serve our citizens with special needs to make their travel, "said the mayor of Montreal, Denis Coderre.

Recall that since 1980, the STM provides paratransit service door-to-door for people with disabilities. There are more than 26,500 customers who perform annually with 86 minibus STM and 14 intermediates of regular and accessible taxis services, some 3 million trips on the island of Montreal and surrounding areas.
