2015 MTA Professional Bus Operator Graduation Ceremony

March 26, 2015

The Maryland Transit Administration is hosting the 2015 MTA Professional Bus Operator Graduation Ceremony March 27 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the B&O Railroad Museum, 901 W. Pratt St., Baltimore.

A class of 14 drivers who passed the 10-week training course will transition from new bus operator candidates to professional bus operators after the ceremony.

The new driving class will take to the roads March 29.

Candidates are required to pass examinations in customer service training and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) sensitivity training. In addition to written road tests, candidates must also take behind-the-wheel training that culminates in getting their Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

“The rigorous training we provide is designed to ensure our drivers provide excellent customer service,” said Elmer C. Coppage Jr., MTA manager of the office of operations training. “We train our candidates with the highest level of respect possible so they can pass that respect onto our customers.”
