On May 21, Miami-Dade Transit (MDT) employee Katrena Williams passed away along with her two children, Makayla Williams, 12, and Vincent Williams, Jr., 3, after a tragic fire at their residence. Ms. Williams, who was a dedicated and exemplary Transit employee, worked as a Bus Stock Clerk for 17 years at the Materials Management Building.
In honor of her memory, the Board of County Commissioners passed a resolution on July 1, 2014 to rename the Materials Management Building the “Katrena Williams Materials Management Building.”
A renaming ceremony will take place on March 26.
