Jule Transit Releases a Guide for Transit in Schools

March 18, 2015

A “Guide for Transit in Schools” is now available to help increase the awareness of The Jule Transit for students in grades K-8.

These materials were created to help increase interest and excitement for public transportation and to help students become aware of alternative transportation opportunities in Dubuque. The guide includes activities on The Jule routes, hours, popular stop locations, and route names. Students will also learn to use a map and schedule table to plan a trip on the bus. These materials were designed to be used by teachers or other educators in a group setting.

This guide was created as a part of the Julecorps program, a volunteer program that connects Loras College students with Jule Transit and the community.  Maggie Baker, service learning coordinator at Loras College, says the program “…builds capacity and creates opportunities for Loras students to volunteer and become more familiar with public transit and the city of Dubuque. This creates a solution to a challenge from which bus passengers, The Jule, and Loras all benefit.”

A classroom presentation and/or a package of Jule Transit maps for use with this guide can be requested free of charge by contacting The Jule office.
