The Greater Dayton RTA announces the recent promotion of two employees:
Barbara Brookshire – transportation manager, revenue service operations. She is one of the key leaders in the newly-structured transportation department. The move was designed to “significantly improve the performance and accountability of every RTA employee,” said Brandon Policicchio, RTA deputy chief operations officer.
“Barbara understands what it takes to get buses on the street and keep them there with a high degree of safety and reliability,” said Chief Operations Officer Jim Napier.
Her approach to customer service extends well beyond “the data” and focuses on the customer at the bus stop and the individual driving a bus, he added. It’s that kind of hands-on experience that makes her uniquely qualified in her new position, said Napier.
Gerry Gustin – manager of security. As the newly-appointed manager of security, Gustin brings a wealth of experience to the job.
Gustin spent 30 years in law enforcement, and retired in 2013 as a lieutenant with the Huber Heights Police Department. He was in charge of the police workforce, the communications center, the facility and the fleet maintenance employees.
But he wasn’t just a cop. He also spent time in the community, serving as a school resource officer, on a citizen’s patrol group and as the media relations contact for the department.
He was awarded Officer of the Year in 1997 and 2000. And Employee of the Year in 2001.
His personal motto drove that kind of achievement, adopted from legendary football coach Lou Holtz, “Do the right thing, at the right time, for the right reason.”
