Presto Makes Life Easy for DRT Passengers

Feb. 11, 2015

It’s convenient. It’s flexible. And now it’s even easier to switch to Presto in Durham Region. Passengers can now buy and load Presto fare cards at the Pickering Town Centre Guest Services Kiosk.

From east to west, Presto cards are available along many popular DRT routes. Take route 402 to the Oshawa Centre’s United Way Kiosk to buy Presto cards; in Whitby, you can ride route 916 to pick up Presto at regional headquarters; moving over to Ajax, route 915 will get you to the DRT Westney location (just south of the Ajax GO Station) where Presto sales are available. And now, Pickering passengers can make the easy switch to Presto by taking Pulse, the bus rapid transit route along Highway 2, to the Pickering Town Centre with sales at the guest services kiosk.

Using the Presto electronic fare card, riders no longer need to fumble with change and paper tickets on DRT. Simply tap the card as you board a bus to pay your fare. And it’s cheaper too. A single trip using Presto is up to 40 cents less than paying cash. You can also load a DRT monthly pass to save even more. If you use Presto when transferring between DRT and GO Transit, your DRT fare will be only 70 cents. And for a limited time, DRT is providing Presto cards for free by waving the initial $6 card fee when loading a monthly pass or a minimum of $20.

Another great reason to switch to Presto is to take advantage of the 15 percent transit federal tax deduction. Monthly passes and Presto loads are eligible with proof of payment.
