Make a Connection for Valentine’s Day

Feb. 2, 2015

Finding Valentine’s Day love can be tough when you’re always on the go. But this year – for the second time – Metro will make it easier with lunch-time Speed Dating on the Red Line Feb. 13. Ride the rails and see if you can make a friend while in transit. Special guests from the L.A. Kings, L.A. Clippers, the Harlem Globetrotters, the Hollywood Pantages and Da’ Hip-Hop Wizzard of Oz will help with the matchmaking. Two Metro Cupids also will be along for the ride, and a special flower cart and See’s Candies will offer deals for daters at Union Station.

Speed Dating on the Red Line will take place from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Metro staff will be at four Red Line stations to register speed daters: Union Station, 7th Street/Metro, Hollywood/Vine and North Hollywood. Registration will begin at 10:30 a.m. Upon signing in, speed daters will receive a wristband and Metro pin to indicate participation.

Between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. every Red Line train will have one decorated Speed Dating Train Car for registered participants. The designated Speed Dating Train Car will be the last car on trains heading to North Hollywood and the first car on trains heading toward Union Station. Once on board, Metro staff will explain the event guidelines to participants. Participants will also be able to switch trains and board any Speed Dating Train Car during the event.

All participants must be 18 years or older and are responsible for their own valid transit fare media. Participants must adhere to Metro’s Customer Code of Conduct.

Share your Speed Dating on the Red Line photos and experience with Metro by using the hashtag #LoveMetroLA. Select photos will be chosen and featured on Metro’s blog, The Source.
