Bus Éireann Upgrades Personnel Management

Largest Irish bus operator Bus Éireann modernizes planning system.

The logo of the Irish bus company Bus Éireann features an Irish Setter. These dogs are friendly, reliable and fast – in Ireland they can be seen everywhere. And there is hardly a town in the country in which the buses with the red-brown dog logo are not to be found. Bus Éireann provides virtually all the towns and regions in Ireland with regular local bus and coach services. For the management of more than 1,300 drivers, the company uses the IVU.crew system from the Berlin software provider IVU Traffic Technologies AG.

Operating with a total of 685 vehicles, Bus Éireann operates coach services between the main Irish cities and also public transport services in the towns and rural areas. Services to Northern Ireland, Great Britain and the European mainland are also provided by Bus Éireann, as well as the national school bus operations on behalf of the Irish government. To plan the necessary personnel scheduling, the company uses the personnel management software IVU.crew.

“The IVU system meets all our requirements for a modern personnel management software”, says Deric O‘Dowd, project manager at Bus Éireann. “This brings us up to the state of the art, and lays down the foundations for further practical developments in the coming years.” The project manager of IVU Traffic Technologies AG, André Shooman, adds: “We are very pleased that Bus Éireann is using IVU.crew for all of its personnel planning and scheduling. This is an important reference customer for us, and it underlines our strong market position.”
