Jan. 20, 2015
For the third year in a row, SARTA set a new ridership record by providing over 2.8 million rides between its fixed route, Proline and contract services.

2014 was another exciting and record breaking year for Stark Area Regional Transit Authority (SARTA). For the third year in a row, SARTA set a new ridership record by providing over 2.8 million rides between its fixed route, Proline and contract services.  SARTA also set a record in October by providing 265,153 rides in a single month, with weekday ridership exceeding 10,000 rides a day.

Kirt Conrad, executive director, said “Since 2010 SARTA’s ridership has grown by 40 percent.  We attribute our continued ridership growth to the improving economy, increased service on our busiest routes, our Contract Services and other programs we have introduced in the past five years.”

To commemorate these achievements, SARTA will be hosting Appreciation Events at all of its Transit Centers.

“SARTA is much more than a transportation company, we are a community partner working to improve the lives of its residents.  As a community partner, we are proud that our services and programs enable Stark County Residence to maintain their independence” stated Conrad.
