TE Connectivity’s Latest Repair Products Help Extend Life of Sealed Cable Assemblies

Updated repair manual helps ensure quality repair of assemblies and keeps harnesses mission ready.

TE Connectivity (TE) offers a line of harness repair products to enable repairs to restore the harness. TE offers a product line for field repairs, including repair conductors, jackets, bundles, shields and backshells.

“Repairing complex sealed cable assemblies can be more desirable than replacing them, particularly in military applications where the ability to repair an assembly quickly can be the difference between mission success or failure,” said John Kuster, senior product manager, global aerospace, defense and marine, TE. “A variety of TE’s Raychem heat-shrinkable products are widely accessible, easy to install, and designed to extend the life of assemblies.”

TE is also offering two new resources to inform users of these products and the repair needed to use them. The General Harness Repair Manual and the Harness Repair Products – Quick Reference Manual are now available from TE and its authorized distributors. The manuals include a general philosophy of harness repair that emphasizes minimum disruption to circuits and harness structure in making common repairs – generally around the area of the connector. Jacket repair, shield repair, and conductor splicing and repair is also covered as well as proper tools needed for the repair work. Both manuals include photos and cross-reference mil-specs and other more detailed installation procedures.
