The city of Edmonton announced it has reached tentative agreements with five city unions representing more than 8000 full and part time staff. The multi-year agreements cover 2014 to 2018 inclusive.
“We believe these tentative agreements represent a fair deal for both the city and employees, providing service stability for citizens and ensuring the city remains competitive in the labour market for the long term,” says Jeff MacPherson, the city’s human resources branch manager. “We want to thank the leaders of the five unions for their efforts and commitment in concluding this process.”
The tentative agreements are a combination of wage increases, as well as premium and benefit improvements that total 13.5 per cent over five years. Further details about the deals will be released when the ratification process is completed. Ratification votes are expected to occur early in the New Year.
Unions included in these tentative agreements are: CSU 52 (primarily inside workers), ATU main and DATS (Edmonton Transit), IBEW (electrical workers) and CUPE 30 (primarily outside workers).
