First Transit in Kelowna (British Columbia, Canada) and the Kelowna Regional District help bring joy to many Kelowna residents during the holiday season. Each year, the Santa Sleigh Bus travels through the area collecting food, toys and cash donations for the Salvation Army’s Christmas Fund. “We at First Transit are grateful to be in partnership with this community,” said Bill Harding, First Transit General Manager. “Being engaged with and giving back to the communities in which we operate is a core value of First Transit. We are pleased to help with these donations so that those in need can enjoy a happy holiday season.”

Each year, the Kelowna Regional District Ambassadors and First Transit Kelowna transform an everyday transit bus into an elaborate Santa Sleigh Bus, complete with lights, decorations and holiday music for one week.

Due to the generous support of area residents, the Santa Sleigh Bus has raised nearly $300,000 (CDN) for the Salvation Army since its inception in 2002. This year’s donations are expected to provide holiday food and toys for some 900 area families.
