Men Micro Inc. has released the F23P SBC, based on the 4th generation Intel Core processors. The new CPU board offers higher computing and strongly improved graphics with the same low power consumption as third generation Intel processors.

As the newest member of Men Micro’s scalable CompactPCI and CompactPCI PlusIO family, the robust and flexible F23P can be easily integrated into existing systems. Its excellent graphics and high computing performance make the rugged SBC ideally suited for harsh environments found in industrial, avionics, space, medical engineering and transportation applications.

Depending on system requirements, the F23P can be customized with the full range of 4th generation Intel Core i7, Core i5, Core i3 and Celeron processors. For exceptionally high performance applications, the Intel i7-4700EQ quad core processor provides a base frequency of 2.4 GHz and a Turbo Boost frequency of 3.4 GHz.  In addition to Turbo Boost, all processors incorporate Intel’s Hyper-Threading, Active Management Technology and Virtualization Technology.

The F23P supports the CompactPCI PlusIO (PICMG 2.30) specification, meaning it can be used in a hybrid system to control both CompactPCI and CompactPCI Serial peripheral boards.  Compliant with the standard, the F23P offers four each of USB 2.0, PCI Express x1 and 6 Gb/s SATA interfaces as well as one Gigabit Ethernet port on the J2 rear I/O connector.

The front of the board provides access to VGA graphics, two Gigabit Ethernet and two USB 2.0.  Extension cards enable even more functionality, including a multitude of UARTs, an additional four USBs, SATA for a hard disk connection as well as HD audio.

The new CPU board operates in Windows and Linux environments as well as under real-time operating systems that support Intel's multi-core architecture. Equipped with special components of the Intel Embedded Line, the F23P has a guaranteed minimum availability of seven years. It is also backwards compatible with all previous MEN Micro models complying with PICMG 2.30 (F19P, F21P, F22P) and PICMG 2.0 (F14, F18).

An mSATA disk and a microSD card connected via USB give the board additional memory space for each application, while different watchdogs for monitoring the processor and board temperature top off the functionality of the F23P.

All board components, including the up to 16 GB DDR3 DRAM of memory with ECC functionality, are firmly soldered against shock and vibration.
