Miami-Dade Transit (MDT) ranks at the top in terms of bus safety among the top transit agencies in Florida. MDT received first place in the 2014 Bus Safety Award given by the Florida Public Transportation Association. Of the more than 78.3 million passenger trips provided by MDT last year, MDT had three incidents per 1 million passenger trips provided.

Bus Operator Luis Tur, who has not had a single preventable accident during his 27-years of service with MDT, was also recognized for his safety record.

“In all that we do, safety is our number one priority,” said Miami-Dade Transit Director Ysela Llort. “We strive daily to provide safe, reliable and courteous service to our patrons. This award recognizes that effort, and I am proud of the work our employees do every day in safely moving millions of people in South Florida.”
