Secure bike parking within interior spaces such as parking garages is easier with the new Bike Safe, announced today by Duo-Gard Industries Inc. The company is a leading innovator in the design and manufacturing of custom and standard structures forbicycle parking.
The concept enables customers to make the most of any available interior space that would otherwise go unused. Especially adaptive to existing parking garages, such as those in train and bus stations, the Bike Safe provides enclosed storage with security options that make biking more attractive as alternative transportation by minimizing the possibility of theft. It allows riders, especially the rising number of commuters, to invest in more comfortable and durable higher-end bikes.
“Duo-Gard’s new Bike Safe reflects today’s concerns about bike theft and rider safety,” said Michael Arvidson, executive vice president. “Because the structure’s design is scalable, we can customize our engineering to suit almost any site conditions.”
The new Bike Safe can be engineered with walls and roofs of tempered glass, shatterproof polycarbonate or stainless steel mesh, depending on the degree of security the customer wants.
Collaboration with the customer enables Duo-Gard to create the bike parking solution based on specific needs, including options for card-swipe or key-fob access, mechanical keypads with changeable codes, lighting, motion detectors and video cameras. Lockers can be added for the storage of personal items. And the Bike Safe can be adapted for generating revenue. Customers can also consider the addition of a bike repair area.
