The City of Janesville Announces Rebecca Smith as Transit Director

Smith will replace Dave Mumma, who is retiring after serving as transit director since 1980.

Following a rigorous search process, the city of Janesville has hired Rebecca Smith as transit director. Smith will replace Dave Mumma, who is retiring after serving as transit director since 1980.

She began with the city of Janesville in 2003 as community information specialist. From 2007 – 2013 she served as management assistant in the city manager’s office. In 2013, she was appointed assistant transit director.

Smith graduated from the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse with B.S. degrees in public administration and political science. She also graduated from the University of Kansas with a Masters of Public Administration degree. Smith is a Wisconsin Certified Public Manager.

She will officially begin her position as transit director on Jan. 3. The city thanked Mumma for his outstanding service to Janesville and looks forward to working with Smith in her new position.
