The Regional Transportation District (RTD) is opening an additional stop for the free MetroRide at 18th & Market on Nov. 10.

The free MetroRide began service in May 2014 when the new Union Station Transit Center opened and is a convenient alternative to the free 16th Street MallRide with fewer stops resulting in faster travel times.

The 18th & Market stop will include a newly constructed “bus bulb”—a curb/sidewalk extension that enable buses to stop without having to weave in and out of traffic. The bulbs help to reduce travel times, enhance the pedestrian experience and add safety. The free MetroRide stops are also unique with a white canopy and/or marker with a map of the route and downtown area.

The free MetroRide features specially-marked 60-foot long articulated buses that run along 18th and 19th streets from Union Station and Civic Center Station, making 14 stops during the round trip. This no-fare bus service operates during peak hours Monday-Friday, running every 5-10 minutes.
