SARTA Hits Record Ridership for Month of October

Nov. 6, 2014
The last time SARTA saw numbers this high was August 2013 when there were 255,081 rides in just one month.

In October 2014, SARTA hit an all-time high of 265,153 in a single month, with weekday ridership exceeding 10,000 rides a day.  The last time SARTA saw numbers this high was August 2013 when there were 255,081 rides in just one month.

Kirt Conrad, executive director, said “The improving economy, increased half hour service on our busiest routes, our new Medicaid Services with Stark County JFS and SarahCare and other programs/services we have implemented over the last year are major contributors to our ridership record.  Stark County residents are using SARTA to get to work, school, doctor’s appointments, Adult Day Centers and much more. We, at SARTA, are proud to provide transportation to the residents of Stark County.”

In 2012 and 2013, SARTA saw record ridership numbers and are on track to exceed both of those years again.  That would make this the third year in a row SARTA hit all time high ridership numbers.

SARTA has been implementing new services and programs that advance transportation services to Stark County residents.  They launched the longest fixed route from Canton to Wade Park VA Hospital in Cleveland, PinPoint (real-time GPS) on all fixed routes, GoLine trip booking for ProLine Services and introduced new Medicaid Services.
