Exhibiting at the APTA Expo for the first time since becoming members in 2011, REO-USA officials were extremely pleased with the end results.  Citing steady booth traffic and significant interest in the various railway components they displayed in Houston, REO-USA’s experience at the Oct. 12-15 event was a certified success.

“All in all we found the show to be very successful.  It was a great opportunity to meet with many important customers of ours and spend time with a good number of new prospects, many of whom were already aware of our company’s expertise with railway applications,” replied Barbara Miller, vice president of North American operations for the Indianapolis-based company.

“Since this was our first time exhibiting at the APTA Expo, we elected to show a full range of our main drive and auxiliary converter components used in transportation systems.  This worked out extremely well as many people were interested in learning about our capabilities.  It also gave us a chance to promote our ability to produce locally and to meet Buy American Act (BAA) standards,” commented Miller, in reference to the legislation driven by Congress and signed into law by President Herbert Hoover in 1933.

“We displayed many high quality reactors, charging resistors, current transformers, and dv/dt and sinus filters that the majority of our competitors can’t match in terms of volume.  We fielded many questions about our liquid cooled components, specifically line reactors, braking resistors and high frequency components.  I think most people now have a better understanding of what we bring to the table and the advantages it serves them.”

Miller pointed out that each REO-USA railway component undergoes rigid type testing in accordance with the EN 60310 standard, one of the reasons why these products have a life cycle of 30 years or longer.

“Our products are designed to withstand the rigors associated with the transportation industry.  That’s why they are long lasting and gaining in popularity,” Miller said.  “Going forward, we benefitted from a few of the Learning Zone presentations we attended and the meetings we conducted at APTA.  In the long run it will help increase our awareness in the industry.”
