As the holiday season approaches, Miami-Dade Transit wants to ensure all patrons have a safe ride on Metrorail.

As the most economic and convenient way for both visitors and residents to get around, Metrorail continues to be a popular choice for holiday shoppers and those traveling to Miami International Airport.

Patrons are encouraged to adhere to the following safety tips:

  • Stay alert and be attentive of the people around you.
  • Be aware of your surroundings when using electronic devices, such as smart phones.
  • Keep your belongings close to you at all times.
  • Locate the rail car’s intercom system in each Metrorail car in case you need to communicate with the train operator.
  • Know your Metrorail car number in case you need to report an incident.
  • During off-peak hours, seek occupied cars for your ride or sit as close to the train operator as possible.

If you see any incidents or suspicious activity, please report it immediately to the Transit Watch line at 305-375-2700, which is manned 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Give the Transit Watch operator the rail car number, direction of travel, nature of the incident and the last Metrorail station from which your train just departed.

Remember, safety starts with you.
