Peter Torres has been named a senior supervising structural engineer in the New York City office of Parsons Brinckerhoff.

Peter Torres has been named a senior supervising structural engineer in the New York City office of Parsons Brinckerhoff.

In his new position in the firm’s geotechnical and tunnel technical excellence center, Torres will be responsible for delivering designs for major underground rail and infrastructure projects.

Torres  has 25 years of design experience in the transit and rail industry and has been involved in the design of stations and facilities; line structure rehabilitation; flood mitigation and resiliency; and subway projects.

Before joining Parsons Brinckerhoff, he was chief structural engineer at a New York engineering firm. He was also chief structural engineer at MTA-New York City Transit, responsible for designs for the capital program. As program manager at New York City Transit, he was responsible for the development of capital projects from master planning through design, construction, and acceptance.

Torres received M.S. and B.S. degrees in civil engineering from the City College of New York. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Structural Engineers Association of New York, Transportation Research Board, and Municipal Engineers of the City of New York.
