Sima Vajdani, P.E., joins planning, engineering and program management firm Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam Inc. (LAN) as vice president and business group director – California.

Sima Vajdani, P.E., joins planning, engineering and program management firm Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam Inc. (LAN) as vice president and business group director – California. Vajdani will lead LAN’s practice in California and oversee and coordinate the business development efforts, production activities and operations in the state.

Vajdani has more than 30 years of engineering, project delivery, construction and management experience. Previously, she served as president, CEO and founder of McInfra, a company that provided consulting services to the water and transportation infrastructure community. Prior to McInfra, she worked as director of engineering for Samsung Engineering and Construction in the Americas where she focused on alternative delivery methods for major transportation projects.

Vajdani has served public and private sector clients throughout the western United States on a range of water and transportation infrastructure projects, including mass transit, water/wastewater, highways, ports, airports, bridges and special structures. Some of her notable projects include the California High Speed Rail, Segment 1, Port of Long Beach Pier T Container Terminal Improvement, Michelson Water Reclamation Plant (Phase II Upgrade) for Irvine Ranch Water District, Irvine, Calif., and Water Recycling Plant Expansion for West Basin Municipal Water District, El Segundo, Calif.

Vajdani also is actively involved in various organizations, including the Women in Transportation, Construction Management Association of America and Design/Build Institute of America. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering from California State University, Long Beach, and City University of New York, respectively. Vajdani is a registered professional engineer in California, New York and Washington.
