Topeka Metro will celebrate the completion of Phase I bus shelters along the Green routes. Topeka Metro applied for and received a New Freedom grant for the shelter project to make the fixed route bus more accessible to the elderly and disabled.

The addition of these 18 shelters will provide all Topeka Metro passengers safe and weather-free bus stops along the Green routes. All shelters are equipped with a trash can and several have bike racks and interior lighting.

Susan Duffy, General Manager for Topeka Metro said “It has been over 30 years since the last bus shelters were installed in Topeka. The completion of Phase I is the first of several bus stop amenity improvements we will provide our passengers over the next few years.”
