UITP Co-Organizing High Level Sustainable Transport Event on Eve of UN Climate Summit

On Track for Green & Clean Transport is a joint event supported by UITP and will take place in New York on Sept. 22.

On the eve of the upcoming UN Climate Summit in New York, Alain Flausch, UITP secretary general and Gunnar Heipp, chair of the UITP Sustainable Development Commission will convene with other high-level stakeholders to discuss the role of sustainable transport as a solution to climate change.

On Track for Green & Clean Transport is a joint event supported by UITP and will take place in New York on Sept. 22, the day before the Summit. Co-organizing the event are the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), International Union of Railways (UIC), Amtrak and the Partnership for Sustainable Low Carbon Transport (SLoCaT).

The event will examine the role that railways can play as the backbone of sustainable transport systems as well as the climate change mitigation potential of the transport sector in the context of the commitments to be presented at the Summit.
