Switching to Presto Just Got Easier for DRT Riders

Sept. 11, 2014
Using the Presto electronic fare card, riders no longer need to fumble with change and paper tickets on DRT.

DRT helps make life easy by making the switch to Presto more convenient than ever with the Oshawa Centre’s United Way Information Kiosk now set up for Presto.

Using the Presto electronic fare card, riders no longer need to fumble with change and paper tickets on DRT. Simply tap the fare card as you board a bus to pay your fare. And it is cheaper too. A single trip using Presto is up to 40 cents less than when paying with cash. And for a limited time, DRT is providing Presto cards for free by waving the initial $6 card fee when loading a minimum of $20 onto the card.

Riders can now buy and load a Presto card at the Oshawa Centre’s United Way Information Kiosk, located in the centre court of the mall. The kiosk has convenient hours, including evenings and weekends.

The Presto fare card can be used not only on DRT buses, but also with eight other transit agencies in the GTA. Load a Presto card with cash or with a DRT monthly pass. The adult, student and senior fare categories are the same when using Presto as they are when using DRT tickets. And if riders use Presto when transferring between DRT and GO Transit, their DRT fare will be only 70 cents.
