NV: Program Helps Small Businesses Compete for Projects

The Disadvantaged Business Enterprise program enables small businesses, businesses owned by women and disadvantaged businesses to compete with major corporations for construction work and other projects. The Nevada Department of Transportation administers the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise program, which is funded by the United States Department of Transportation. The program aims to create equal opportunities for businesses.

Once certified in Nevada, the certification enables a business to bid on projects by all Nevada Unified Certification Program (NUCP) members. The members are: the Carson Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, Nevada Department of Transportation, Regional Transportation Commission of Washoe County, Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada, Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority and Clark County Department of Aviation (McCarran International Airport).
