The Open Standard for Public Transport (OSPT) Alliance has further strengthened its presence in Brazil with the signing of associate member RioCard TI.
Based on contactless smart card technology, the company underpins the transport system of Rio de Janeiro with its ‘RioCard’, which is accepted by all of the state’s public transport operators. As an Associate Member, it will offer its extensive expertise in launching and developing successful ticketing solutions and provide OSPT Alliance with valuable insight into the Brazilian market.
RioCard TI will also look to integrate the CIPURSE™ open standard, which offers an advanced foundation for interoperable fare collection systems, into its future solutions. This will assist in driving the next generation of secure, cost-effective and flexible fare collection solutions in Brazil.
“Our goal is to make the passenger ticketing experience as secure and convenient as possible,” comments Marcus Bignon, technical manager, RioCard TI. “The RioCard is already in use across the Rio de Janeiro transport system and we work closely with public transport operators, including bus companies, Supervia Urban Trains, CCR ferries, light rail and the metro.”
