Parsons announced that the Etihad Rail Project in Abu Dhabi has surpassed more than 10 million manhours worked (over 250 days) with zero lost-time injuries. The Etihad Rail project is managed by a joint venture between Parsons and AECOM.
This significant safety achievement is a clear indication of Etihad Rail’s commitment to ensuring that safety is a core value throughout the project’s life cycle — from project inception and construction to commercial operations.
Etihad Rail, the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE’s) national railway network, is a 1,200-km freight and passenger railway network that will serve the entire UAE and form part of the Gulf Cooperation Council rail system connecting the UAE to Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait.
Commenting on the achievement, Eng. Faris Saif Al Mazrouei, acting CEO of Etihad Rail said, “This achievement, which includes time dedicated to the testing and commissioning of trains since September of last year, reflects that the high safety standards of the rail industry have carried over into Etihad Rail’s activities prior to the launch of commercial operations.”

Since its formation in 2009, Etihad Rail has implemented internationally recognized Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards and best practices throughout the construction and operation of the railway. The shared commitment and combined efforts of the Etihad Rail and program management consultant teams have seen the application of stringent HSE policies and standards enforced on site for all partners, employees, neighbors, and other key stakeholders in the surrounding areas of the railway.
