The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) is partnering with Friendship Gardens To Go for the third consecutive year to bring fresh produce to the Charlotte Transportation Center (CTC).

The market begins every Thursday from April 3 to October 30 between 3:00-6:00 p.m. near Bay X at the CTC.

“Projects like Friendship Gardens TO GO reflect our commitment to not only provide convenient and accessible transportation in the Charlotte area, but also to partner with organizations in the community to help improve the quality of life for all residents,” said CATS CEO Carolyn Flowers.

Friendship Gardens To Go is made possible by Charlotte in 2012, a DNC legacy program, and Humana. This program aims to build on the work of local organizations and people committed to ending childhood obesity, increasing access to healthy foods, and promoting healthy lifestyles in Charlotte and the region.

“Our mission is to help implement creative measures to ensure that all Charlotteans have fresh and healthy food options,” said Friendship Gardens Program Director Henry Owen. “We are thankful for the support of the business community that provide opportunities to make this happen”

The program accepts EBT/SNAP benefits in addition to cash, debit and credit cards.
