TX: Former Irving Council Member Joins DART

Rick Stopfer, an Irving councilman from 1998 to 2012, has been appointed to the Dallas Area Rapid Transit Board of Directors by the Irving City Council.

Rick Stopfer, an Irving councilman from 1998 to 2012, has been appointed to the Dallas Area Rapid Transit Board of Directors by the Irving City Council.

Stopfer served as the city’s deputy mayor pro-tem from 2007 to 2008 and mayor pro-tem from 2008 to 2009. He served on a number of council committees during that time including planning and development, public works and legislative and communications. He was the council liaison to the Dallas Regional Mobility Commission, Regional Transportation Council, TEX 21 and the Trinity River Corridor.

Active in community service, Stopfer was a member of the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport Board. He served six years on the Irving Planning and Zoning Board, six years on the Irving Flood Control District No. 3, 20 years on the Valley Ranch Board of Directors and is a past president of the Valley Ranch Master Board

Stopfer, a retired automotive consultant, and his wife Melanie have been Irving residents since 1988.
