The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) has honored the North Central Regional Transit District (NCRTD) as the Job Access and Reverse Commute (JARC) 2012 Transportation System of the Year.

“The NCRTD was among five agencies that were singled out this past year for providing excellent customer service to their passengers and having an ongoing record of success,” commented David Harris, transit bureau chief at NMDOT.

According to the Federal Transit Administration, “The Job Access and Reverse Commute (JARC) program was established to address the unique transportation challenges faced by low-income persons seeking to obtain and maintain employment. Many new entry-level jobs are located outside of city centers, and low-income individuals have difficulty accessing these jobs from their city, urban, or rural neighborhoods.”
