New Flyer Industries Inc. announced today that Edmonton Transit has approved the purchase of nine Xcelsior diesel 40-foot heavy-duty bus.
New Flyer has been building buses for Edmonton Transit since 1993. With a staggering 880 buses having been built over the years by New Flyer for Edmonton. This is a relationship that both parties continue to nourish and is an excellent testament to the longevity of a healthy and lasting partnership.
“New Flyer is privileged to have the opportunity to continue to build a relationship with Edmonton Transit, that spans so many milestones for both of us,” said Paul Soubry, New Flyer’s president and CEO. “We mark yet another milestone with this bus award, as this will be the first time Edmonton Transit will be ordering New Flyer’s Xcelsior ‘best-in-class’ model with diesel propulsion."
The nine buses are anticipated to begin production in the second quarter of 2013 and will be completely manufactured and assembled at New Flyer of America’s St. Cloud, Minn., manufacturing facility. All buses are expected to be delivered in June.
